Have a Sweet Dream …at Dream Hotel Bangkok

For a weekend getaway, I checked into Dream Bangkok , one of the newly trendy boutique hotels in Bangkok. It was ranked Third in South East Asia by Agoda Company recently and featured in the “72 hrs Amazing Thailand” English language guidebook. The hotel opened in September 2006 is owned by entrepreneur Vikram Chatwal .

Stepping into the hotel is like a Dream with a thoroughly modern fusion of Eastern and Western styles. Located in the heart of Sukhumvit, Bangkok’s pulse for fashion, entertainment and business, this stunning hotel captures all the excitement of the city while maintaining a sophisticated air of elegance and comfort. Behind its striking façade, the hotel is decorated in attractive earth tones and makes clever use of soft lighting to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Dream Bangkok has added a tower of 95 additional rooms and suites in the new wing,Dream², directly across from the main Dream building last October. With separate front desk and concierge, meeting facilities, business centre, fitness facility ,a rooftop swimming pool and Flave Lite, a lounge serving light snacks and refreshing cocktails complete with spa and cabana services.

The 195 room-Hotel is designed by ASC Interiors in conjuction with Vikram Chatwal to create a mind-bending, avant-garde level of surrealism to the world of accommodation and entertainment. There are 6 types of guest-rooms ranging from Classic Room (112), Deluxe Room (56), Junior Suite (9), Classic Suite (14), Deluxe Suite (1) to Dream Suite (3) . Beautifully decorated in contemporary art-deco style , simple and modern geometric designs. In-room amenities include 42″/32″ plasma televisions, iPod , DVD technology and free high speed broadband and internet access. The minibar is fully stocked with premium champagne and boutique liquors. One of the few hotels in town offering pet-friendly guestrooms with necessary facilities for your beloved pet!

Set on the third floor, Avatar Spa, one of Thailand’s original spa operators, offers a 1.5 hours signature treatment ” Avatar Massage” which is a combination of Ancient Thai Massage and Aromatherapy Massage. The signature “Avatar Massage oil” is specially blended with Vitamin E and pure rose essential oil, to help relief massage pain, better blood circulation, relief tension, softer skin and balance your body, mind and sprite in a posh, luxurious, air-conditioned envirnment for only THB 2400++.

For dining, Flava Restaurant and Bar is located on 2nd floor of main Dream Building, a perfect fit for a night out in Bangkok. The overall ambience was of extremely luxury, trendy but also comfortable and easy going. The restaurant got a different, and quite unique menu of each meal, highlighting both Thai and Western cuisines by International chef, Daniel Meier. Located downstair at the main building, the Flava Lounge is a popular hangout spot for the young and trendy and offers fancy cocktails and sophisticated finger food. On every Wednesday, you may drink your heart out at one price THB 990++ with resident DJ plays from 10pm, twice a week. It is a hip and sleek place aspiring to be Bangkok’s next gathering place for fashionistas. It took me about 30-45 minutes to reach Suvarnabhumi International airport by car or you may engage a private Airport-Hotel limousine transfer (Mercedes Benz Series E 220) at THB 1,700 per trip and one can easily commute to the city via MRT Train with the nearest station being Sukhumvit Station or Asoke BTS that is 5-10 minute walk away.
The published room rates range from a Classic Room at US$240++ to US$1200++ for a Dream Suite. All rates are subject to 10% service charge, 7% applicable government tax.
I was in a Dream pampered with a 300-thread-count Egyptian bed linen over me. The therapeutic effect of the “Blue Light” in the room created an exciting ambience accompanied by ethereal light seeping from beneath the bed.It was one of my memorable experiences in Bangkok.
